What is Synthetic Signal?
Synthetic Signal is Negative Zero's Claude consulting division. The Associate Program is our founding cohort: a fully-funded ~11-week programme that trains you up to become a Claude Certified Architect and, if you pass, puts you on our paid consulting bench.
Who is Negative Zero?
Negative Zero is a cyber security start-up, currently in stealth and launching on 1 July 2026 at negativezero.com. Synthetic Signal is our Claude consulting arm — and this Associate Program is how we're building the team behind it.
Who is this for?
Grads, juniors, and career-changers getting into AI and cyber security. You don't need any prior Claude experience. You do need curiosity, a bit of technical comfort, and the drive to get stuck into a structured programme alongside a cohort.
What does it cost me?
Nothing — it won't cost you a penny. The programme, the e-learning, the certification exam, your tools, travel to the London hackathons, and a welcome kit are all on us.
What's the time commitment?
Roughly 6–8 hours a week of self-paced learning and project work, plus three in-person hackathons in Central London across the programme (~11 weeks, mid-July to end of September 2026).
Is it paid?
The training itself isn't a salaried job — it's a funded development programme. But it costs you nothing, and the whole point of it is paid work: Associates who pass certification join our paid consulting bench (remote-first, with the odd onsite visit, travel and expenses paid). Two permanent roles (~£30k) are also on the table for anyone who really stands out.
What certification do I get?
Anthropic's Claude Certified Architect, Foundations (CCA‑F) — its first official technical certification, covering agentic architecture, Claude Code, prompt engineering, MCP/tool design, and context management.
How does the certification get unlocked?
You'll work through the required Anthropic Academy e-learning during the programme. Once all 10 Associates have finished the e-learning, we unlock and schedule the exam. Your exam links are sent to your Negative Zero email.
What is the exam like?
A proctored, closed-book exam of around 60 questions (no AI assistance allowed during the exam). We run proper prep — domain drills, practice questions, and a mock — in the final stretch so you walk in ready.
What do I actually get out of it?
A recognised, hard-to-get credential; a portfolio project with a written case study; real consulting experience building alongside Negative Zero; a Negative Zero email and identity; a cohort and alumni network; and a route to paid bench work and potentially a permanent role.
Will I get a Negative Zero email?
Yes — you're issued a Negative Zero email and identity at onboarding, along with access to Claude and the learning platform.
What are the hackathons?
Monthly in-person build days in Central London where the cohort gets together to build with Claude, share knowledge, and help each other through the program. Travel into Central London is covered.
What happens if I don't pass the certification?
You keep everything you've learned, your project portfolio, and your network, and we'll have a chat about options including a re-sit. Bench placement is tied to certification.
What's the bench, exactly?
A pool of certified Associates we call on for paid consulting work as it comes up — matched to your specific skills beyond the Claude training. Most of it is remote; the odd onsite visit has travel and expenses paid.
When does it run?
Interviews from 1 July 2026, offers by 8 July, programme from mid-July, certified by 1 October 2026.
How do I apply?
Head to syntheticsignal.io/associate and fill in the form. Tell us a bit about you and why you'd like in, but you are already reading it here so dont get stuck in a loop!
